Keeping up with the Joneses #40

While Clara had absolutely no musical talent, Declan was a different story. Bianca spent hours giving him violin lessons – she wanted to leave behind a legacy in her final days.

Jones214

Declan enjoyed other more casual activities too, like commanding pirate ships…

Jones215

And avoiding the hobos dancing in the park…

Jones216

It was fortunate that he enjoyed the park so much, as Declan wasn’t at home when his father, Lane, had a visit from the Grim Reaper. Callie was devastated. She had had so little time with Lane. Somehow she would have to compose herself before Declan came home.

Minifig Monday #27: Deep Sea Diver

SeriesX_Diver

I feel like I’ve been drowning in work these past few weeks, so I thought it fitting to use this deep sea diver guy as this week’s minifigure. He’s from the very first series of minifigures, way back when I used to feel hundreds of packets in the hopes of finding the minifigs I wanted – until I discovered the codes on the packets (which they subsequently removed from later series).

An extra bit of trivia on this guy: he was one of the master builders in the LEGO Movie 🙂

Minifig Monday is a weekly post in which I feature a random LEGO minifigure from my personal collection. I have a LOT of minifigures, so I hope to keep going for a while 🙂 Unless otherwise stated, all minifigs have been photographed by me. Occasionally I might replace a Minifig Monday with a look at a full LEGO set instead.

With the additional income from Lane’s salary, the family was able to add onto the family estate, though quite a few of the new rooms were unfurnished at first!

Jones205

The house expansion was just in time, as Callie discovered she was pregnant!

Jones209

With a new member of the Jones family on the way, Bianca wondered if her brother was out there somewhere, watching over the family from beyond the grave.

Jones210

Lane was delighted (and a bit nervous!) to hold his son, Declan Jones, in his arms for the first time.

Jones212

It seemed like no time at all before Declan grew up into a geeky little child.

The Halls of Wrath

highlady athroxisSession Date: 20 March 2015. Continued from previous session.

After recovering from their encounter with the golem guarding the Halls of Wrath, and the statue of Karzoug, the heroes set about imbuing their weapons with the power of the Runeforge, creating dominant weapons that might be used against Karzoug.

Feeling prepared for whatever was waiting for them in the Halls of Wrath, the heroes ventured forward, ignoring the sense of unease they felt – the halls seemed too quiet. They stepped through one of the teleportation circles into a large hall, closed on one side by a wall of smoke. This wall turned out to be nothing but an illusion, but the enemy on the other side could see through it, meaning they were well-prepared for when the heroes finally stepped into the room containing a massive teleportation circle. This circle seemed to be the most likely way of escaping Runeforge, but it was well-guarded.

Highlady Athroxis was waiting for the heroes – it was the challenge she had been waiting for her entire life. She transformed into the guise of a fire giant and summoned a treachery demon to aid her. He in turn summoned two vrocks to face the heroes.

The fight was long and deadly, as Athroxis wielded both powerful spells and brutal melee attacks. Radha took a fatal blow from Athroxis’s flaming ranseur. Combined with the spores sprouting vines all over her body (thanks to the vrocks), Radha bled to death very quickly. Fortunately, Nanali had been watching the battle carefully, and dashed forward to cast breath of life on Radha before it was too late. By this time, Athroxis’s demonic minions had been dispatched, and Athroxis herself succumbed to the unrelenting attacks of Nu, Cecil and Ciaran – and Radha, before she fell.

All in all, the heroes were relieved to have survived facing the biggest challenge they had yet come across in Runeforge.

It wasn’t long after Callie’s wedding that Bianca moved into the final chapter of her own story. With her brother gone and her nieces all grown up, she tried to focus on her job playing in the local symphonic orchestra, but it wasn’t easy to ignore the fact that the Grim Reaper would probably be visiting her next.

Jones202

With her sister happily married, it was clear Callie was the heir of the third generation of the Jones family. Clara felt she should contribute something to the Jones family name.

Jones203

She worked around the house and honed her skills wherever she could.

Jones206

As a loner and a geek, it didn’t seem likely that she would be able to complete her ‘friend of the world’ lifelong ambition.

Jones207

Though she did make a couple of friends during her attempts.

Jones211

Bianca even tried to give Clara violin lessons, but it was clear Clara just didn’t have an ear for music.

Jones208

She wasn’t bad at gardening, but it seemed the only place that Clara really shined was at work. She was working her way up the secret agent career with impressive speed. At least there was one area where she was coming out ahead of her sister!

Minifig Monday #26: Yeti

Series11_Yeti

Winter is just around the corner here in the southern hemisphere, and this yeti minifig from series 11 is fully prepared for the cold days ahead. Plus he’s got a popsicle just in case food is scarce during the long winter months!

Although the entire Jones family was saddened by Bryant’s passing, Callie knew she would have wanted her to get married.

Jones197

Clara was still upset about Bryant’s death, and wasn’t sure they should be going ahead with the wedding, but she turned up to support her sister anyway.

Jones198

Bianca joined too, just in time for the end of the ceremony.

Jones199

She made up for her tardiness by serving drinks at the reception.

Jones200

Once the guests were gone, Callie and Lane got to work on generation four of the Jones family right away.
